Today an assistant coach always gets view-only access. They can open the roster and follow the lineup during a game, but they cannot change anything. There is no setting, so a head coach who wants a trusted assistant to be able to edit has no way to allow it, and a head coach who assumed they were picking a restrictive option was not actually choosing at all.
The proposal: the account that holds the team picks the access level for each assistant individually, at invite time and changeable afterwards.
- View only — today's behaviour, and still the default. Open the roster, see the lineup, follow substitutions.
- Can edit — also change the roster and the game plan, the same as the team owner.
Per assistant rather than per team, so a head coach can give one person edit rights without giving them to everybody. The team owner keeps ownership either way.
Why it matters: two-coach teams commonly split the work, and right now all of it has to funnel through whichever account set the team up first. That is often not the person who ends up doing the game-day admin.
Where this came from: raised by a head coach on a two-coach team during the 2026 fall season, after their assistant's access turned out to be read-only when they expected otherwise. Filed for consideration, not yet scheduled.
